WWYY vs WSBG

I know both Nassau stations serve different audiences as well as different areas of NE Pa and the Lehigh Valley but WWYY "The Bone" is showing gains in both the Allentown and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Markets while WSBG, "The Pocono's Best Variety" is slipping miserably according to the latest Arbitron. I like a lot of good music and have listened to both stations, among others but over the past year or so, a logo more fitting for WSBG would be "The Pocono's Best Stagnation." Congrats to "The Bone!"

Lol! Hey Trans...If it was a contest, "The Bone" would win hands down! According to Arbitron, WSBG has lost nearly half their audience in just one year! If I was their PD/Op Manager, I would be checking the trades for openings! ;D

I have been listening to WSBG lately and noticed a "change" in music recently. Hmm...Is this a sign of a format change or just an enhancement? Anything would be most welcome since I last tuned in. I felt like I was growing moss around my ears listening to the same old boring music.

I think Nassau Broadcasting should sell WWYY 107.1 The Bone to Pamal Broadcasting. Pamal Broadcasting already has WXPK 107.1 The Peak. WXPK 107.1 The Peak has a small broadcasting area. When people are driving on I-80 they lose WXPK 107.1 going into NJ but the pick up WWYY 107.1 The Bone in NJ and in PA. Here in Hamlin, PA I can pick up WWYY 107.1 The Bone. I would love to be able to hear WXPK 107.1 The Peak. The Yankees game still can be broadcasting but on both stations.

A year later... WSBG has slipped again in the winter book for 2012. They are now "The Poconos Best Bottom Feeders" at 1.1 for 12+ in the Wilkes-Barre, Scranton Market. I hear rumours that changes are coming though!

I think they should dramatically increase the bones signal to reach Kutztown Allentown, Reading, better.

The bone only exists for one reason: Remember when WEZX Rock 107 on 107.1? They moved to 106.9 to allow 107.1 to be squeezed into Belvidere. The Bone probably cannot increase signal at its current site and most likely cannot move Closer to the Lehigh Valley due to 50kw watt blow torch 106.9 WWIQ Camden/Philly and 50kw 107.5 WBYN Boyertown/Reading. The other problem in that area is terrain; the signal almost totally drops out on Route 33 as you climb the mountain just south of Stroudsburg. As these are Nassau stations will they / are they up for sale? Shamrock should buy 107.1 to simulcast EZX and Cumulus could get 93.5 to go with JR 93.7.

All stations from the north fade on 33, but as soon as you pass wind gap they come back. The Bone actually has a pretty decent signal in allentown. Yes, Shamrock should get some kind of a EZX simulcast in Stroudsburg (WPZX doesn't make it past the 380 interchange) they do have a translator on 105.3 in Pocono Summit, but it is probably the weakest one I have seen in my life. It barley reaches a mile in radius. Not to mention there is a 105.3 in Hawley and Philadelphia on the air that make the three stations fight completely. The bone is pretty good ratings wise, but I can tell you every time I pass by SBG with the seek button I hear the SAME EXACT SONGS over and over again.

Yes, "The Bone" did well in the winter 2012 book for the Allentown market. I am unsure how they fared in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton market since Arbitron now only releases certain information. Ty...no surprise on repetitious music from WSBG. Every 1 to 2 hours, same ol', same ol'! The entire on-the-air staff sounds boring and lacking direction. That new girl that is on late in the morning sounds like a barbie girl in pain! I can't drive my car and listen to them at the same time...the traffic is bad enough!
