OK, WWZN-AM 1510 made a brief appearance months ago in the Boston PPMs, leading observers to believe that the station MIGHT have been transmitting a PPM signal. It was possible that the rating it got then was a result of broadcasting Major League, I mean Red Sox beisbol en Espagnol, if not their regular lineup. Today (Tuesday, 02/21) WWZN once again appeared in the latest ratings, just barely. There's been a slight change in the composition of the ownership; I don't know if that's the reason why the station might have reinstated the PPM identifier. Obviously, critics could observe that the minuscule cume reflects the unpopularity of the liberal programming. But it would be hard to imagine a worse-run station than WWZN, partly ownership's fault, partly Santos Media's fault. Jeff Santos himself is an AWFUL broadcaster, and putting himself on the station in morning AND afternoon drive, constantly going "er", "um" "ah" over and over again is a H-U-G-E turnoff. The question is: is WWZN "management" responsible for the endless repetition of the very same PSAs and promos aired every day at just the same time? There aren't very many commercials (Tufts Health plan isn't even on these days, except in "Ring of Fire" on Sundays), but still, it seems they could fill up a bank of PSAs and rotate them with greater spacing. Jeff Santos's own promo is as AWFUL as he is: it still uses Barney Frank even though he's exiting the House and yet it describes him as a political leader! Well, as long as Santos is somehow paying the bills, there's no reason to expect much change.
