WWZN --Brother Stair mid to 6 am

The station that hasn't had a prayer in the ratings is now climbing the Stair-way to heaven.
Boston Radio Watch notes that sports talk on WWZN 1510 is giving way to Rev. Ralph "RG Stair" Gordon
midnight to 6 am weeknights. http://www.bostonradiowatch.com
They had been running an hour of him before.

"Yes Jesus is standing at the home plate, he's waiting for you to come in."

"Jesus Saves--But Espo Scores On The Rebound"

Great another station running worthless crap overnight. I wasn't a regular listener but I liked Sporting News Radio better than the stuff on ESPN Radio. By the way I remember posting on this very message board when Peter Davidson's Blackstrap Broadcasting announced it was buying this station and he said they weren't changing formats I was the one who said "I'll bet it's not true."

And isn't his name Ralph Gary Stair? I happened to Google him and found out about his past...sordid. We ran him from 5-8;15 pm last summer on WNWR by potting up his Web stream and putting THAT on the air...

Stair does not sign contracts with stations in most cases, he goes on a month by month basis. If he doesn't get any response from the listening area, he's been known to pull his programming in less then 60 days. He pays a rate that is even lower then dirt cheap as well.

Maybe so, but I'll bet he always pays on time, and that his checks never bounce. :D

If Davidson's track record in Providence is any indication, the first LMA deal that comes along will become the new "format du jour" on 1510.

I respect the Boston Radio Watch, but the guy who writes it has got to be the only person listening to WWZN.

he was on before... kind of a shame because David Stein's show from 3 to 6 AM is pretty good.

WWZN just opened a new studio in Quincy by the bay...

Who cares? This non-rated station is just taking up precious space on the radio dial that could be used for better purposes.

we know we know... sorry, I think it serves a purpose to people who want another sports station besides the clowns down the dial. But we'll never agree so I suppose there's no point in arguing it.

Is it in Marina Bay?

yep... the guys on the morning show (Lew and Mike) said they were in there but the phones and computers are yet to be set up. So no calls yet this week--and, yes, they do get callers.

No kidding. I work down there, so I'll have to check it out...

This thread got me curious enough to listen....... ug.... Sounds like its all canned, with segments repeating over and over.... as if they are broadcasting from an iPod, with 10-minute clips airing every hour or less. The main theme is asking for money, and wailing about the need for more powerful short-wave transmitters, and most of all, telling listeners (both of them) that the world and humanity will end real soon. Also, he talks over and over about him being on WACE-730 in Chicopee. Yes, type in "Ralph Stair" on Google, and learn about the career of this truly amazing man.

I heard mentions of Brother Stare--er, Stair :)-- on "World of Radio With Glenn Hauser" when I was
into shortwave. If one wanted conspiracy theory religion you could at least listen to the Church of
the SubGenius Hour of Slack, which at least is funny/bizarre ("The world may end tomorrow, and you may DIE!"
Yeah...either of those COULD happen, but that doesn't mean they will! They of course worship a pipe-
smoking clip-art-man named Bob, and do interesting things like disrupting posters on telephone poles:
Jesus Is Our Hope becomes

Jesus Is Our BOB
BOB is Our Hope
Jesus is BOB Hope (from Book of the SubGenius) )

("The world may end tomorrow, and you may DIE!"

Reminds me of the gag headline in the Christian Science Monitor...

The World Ended Today. Further Details in Tomorow's Edition.

Or the one in the Patriot Ledger

JAPAN TOTALLY DESTROYED BY EARTHQUAKE
Weymouth couple believed dead.

Regards,
TSB

There's hundreds of sports stations on the internet you can listen too, or get satellite.
