WXBM Why did Linda Lawrence leave?

The word that trickled down to me was there was some sort blow-up or incident. But that's just what came through my grapevine. Can't say for sure.

Linda is a great talent, and she & Marty a great team--virtually unbeatable for the past 20 years or so. Hope this all works out for the best...

You takin' credit for makin that team happen, RNR??? That kinda longevity is amazing and that they could be a team that long is even mvre amazing.

It's almost spring. Here we don't go(to the beach again) again snow bunny.

Oh, no. They were already kicking ass and taking names at 102.7 when I first rolled into the City By The Bay, but I did get to know them as cluster co-workers before bolting for the snow. Nice folks. Extraordinary radio talents.

Linda was already number one when her sidekick came to work there. She and Robert Micheal Greene kicked butt. They were the best. Period. I had to laugh at the "restructuring" comment wxbm claimed. Where you trying to restructure the station to go? Down the toilet? Dumb move.

WXBM is too repetitive - we have way too many country stations here now and I think it would make sense if they decided to drop the format all together. Their (strong) signal doesn't even reach fwb (do they have listeners here?) I've never seen the car radio stop @ 102.7 and end up @ 103.1.

I think people are getting tired of country and with this being a "party town" it's no wonder were flooded with CHR and dance.

The "your country" idea seem to have failed big time.

Maybe the bozo who owns freedom 94.5 should buy that stick and put that station there. That is, if he can keep it going all night which he's failed to do. Stop jamming WFLF.

Rob, Rob, Rob. What are we going to do with you?

Okay, here's reality. WXBM is #1 in the market #124, Pensacola. As such, they could give a shit about what happens in market #188, Fort Walton Beach. FWB is completely irrelevant. FWIW, many moons ago, WXBM may have been able to move its antenna eastward toward FWB--it's licensed to Milton, after all--in Santa Rosa County--but instead they moved it westward toward Mobile, market #94, in hopes that they might luck into a few bucks from the bigger city, which they do, occasionally.

If WXBM can fill up their avails with $100 spots (just a nice round number, for explanation purposes) from Pensacola, there's no reason to go fight over $50 spots in Fort Walton. But if a $150 spot falls their way from Mobile, well--even better.

Too much repetition? They're Number One. Apparently, it's not too much repetition for their audience...

Now I know why I'm seeing more and more XM antennas while on 98 then.

I love their 'end of the road" idea when they do weather updates. I take it there studios are at the end of a road up in milton.

I thought the XM antennas were there because satellite radio is being installed by the factory on new cars. Do people around here really pay the subscription fees?

Also, I though Pamal Broadcasting (WXBM and WMEZ) had there offices in Gulf Breeze @ Pensacola Beach Road. Has that changed?

No roads end in Milton. They end in Navarre.

They're out on Quintette Road in Pace. Way the hell out in the country. Not sure if it's still "at the end of the road" (Pace is a booming place) but you can probably still see it from there...

Actually from what I understand the station was never at the "end of a road", that was something they came up with a long time ago. From what I can remember based on what someone told me, I think when they originally said "the end of the road" they meant the station was at the "end of the road" of small towns before you hit the big city of Pensacola (not actually the end of any "road", just the last small community you passed through going west from Milton).

WMEZ used to be located in Gulf Breeze, but their building was heavilly damaged from Hurricane Ivan in 2004 so they moved to WXBM's studio in Pace. I haven't talked to anyone from the station in a few years, but as far as I know they are both still located on Quintette Road in Pace.
