Montgomery WXFX HD3 now Classic Hop Hop

Cumulus Media has added Classic Hip Hop "95.1 The Vibe" on 95.1 WXFX-HD3.

I'm curious as to why cumulus never tried moving either 1440 or 740 to HD3 and paired it with the often rumored translator?

1440 was on the HD3... And you can't pair something with a theoretical translator that does not really exist.
cumulus has had plans to put one or both am's on translators multiple times, cp applications had been filed but never gone any further. they should have done it long ago after Bluewater moved news talk to 107.9 but they never had the local nor syndicated talent to compete with bluewater.

The 107.9 FM spot doesn't belong to Bluewater. It had a start in Marion Alabama at 103.9 FM. In 1994 my friends from Alexander Broadcasting, now Scott Communications, purchased the station and moved it to Selma and relocated it to 97.3 FM under the name of WJAM. Relocated again to 107.9, due to a Birmingham station, at that same spot, upgrading the signal. Moved to Montgomery and upgraded. Once they moved, in 2009, the let Bluewater lease it for talk. A few years later, Bluewater was able to get themselves a new home for talk, at 93.1 FM and ended their lease, with Alexander. EMF has been leasing this spot for a long time now. A just so you know moment.
