WXIA to pawn Madonna concert on WATL

As anticipated, WXIA is ready to pawn its first program onto newly acquired sister WATL. That first program is...the highly promoted by NBC Madonna concert. WXIA will show Georgia Aquarium specials all night to celebrate the aquarium's first anniversary.

Question...Why pawn off a network special? If it wasn't for WATL, it could have been a repeat of the disaster of the Community Service Awards 2003 preemption (earlier post about this).

Why not show the specials on WATL instead, then re-run them on WXIA during the day the next day (Thanksgiving)?

It's the night before Thanksgiving, right? Maybe they figure people will be gathering with their families and may not want to see a Madonna concert that has been hyped as being controversial, even with the crucifixion scene removed by NBC. So they put on something family-friendly. Hey, kids like animals.

And also to the best of my knowledge, NBC doesn't care, so long as their programs (and most importantly, their network spots) get cleared, right? Maybe it's a safe bet.
