WXKS-AM 1200 Doubles Rating With Severin

According to the most recent Arbs, the addition of Jay Severin seems to have doubled WXKS-AM's rating and cume. Doesn't say much for the drawing power of Hannity.

You will now see Clear Channel putting him on their stations in Providence, Worcester, Springfield, and Manchester, and move Hannity to 6-9.

Worcester (WTAG) has a local show and Springfield (WHYN) carries Howie Carr. Maybe Providence and Manchester though.

On WTAG in Worcester, they could move Jordan Lewy to 6-9 or put Severin on tape delay 6-9 and move Hannity to 9- Mid.

Hannity may get ratings in Topeka, Kansas but not here.

Whether you like Severin or not, his addition to Talk 1200 can only be a good thing. Their ratings are in the dumper and all he can do is move them up.

Told ya....

Sean Hannity is the #2 show in the US in terms of audience numbers, so no doubt his show gets many listeners in quite a few markets. As far as Jay Severein's show in Providence, I doubt it, at least not on Clear Channel's WHJJ. They already have a full schedule with Sean Hanniity 3-6, Mark Levin 6-8, The Wall Street Journal Wrap Show 8-10, Jim Bohanon 10-1, and Sean Hannity repeated overnight.

Even more impressive is WEZE-590's two-month rise.... now 7 times what it was two months ago! Just a fluke, too, I think.

WXKS-AM had a full schedule when they brought in Severin... so I think that anything is quite possible at this point.

NOT NECESSARILY:

WXKS-AM JULY 0.5 77,900 AUG 0.3 58,000 SEPT 0.6 109,500

They are pretty even with July. Severin started on 1200 on Thurs. Aug 18th.

And you double, triple or quadruple a zero, it is still a zero.

Don't know if those are 25-54 numbers, probably aren't. They prob aren't much higher in that demo
anyway. The key for them is to have the 2 local hosts and syndie otherwise pull in some ad money, etc.
Clear Channel wants to clear ads and hopefully do at least SOME numbers in am and pm drive. Prob
not much better, in what was mentioned, than what they got with Air America (which admittedly did
not have daily local hosts).

Maybe Talk 1200 is a bit of a loss leader. They make their money on the music FMs and can do fairly low
numbers on the AMs, but still make a good profit. After all the highest rated station in town is WXKS.

...FM.

WXKS-AM 1200 Needs to wake up their autopilot

This evening 1200's been playing a lot of dead air, countdowns and beeping noises between playing fragments of Glenn Beck Weekend, usually repeating the last sentence of the previous segment when they come back from the dead air and beep break.
This is the Glenn Beck Weekend 45 seconds ...beep beep ... Beck Weekend 15 seconds ...beep beep...
