WXKS-AM At Low Power; Installing WILD Transmitter?

On Saturday mornings, I make an audio tape of the Stephanie Miller rerun on WXKS-AM while I listen to "Weekend Edition" in real time on WBUR. As I set up my venerable cassette recorder, I noticed that WXKS was VERY weak and subject to interference probably from the 1430 in Amherst, Mass. No problem, I just switched to WKOX. Then it occurred to me that possibly some work was being done at the AM 1430 transmitter site...like perhaps installing the new WILD-AM transmitter that is supposed to start diplexing from there. In an era of lower gas prices, I wouldn't have hesitated to drive down 93 to Wellington Circle to see if there was visible activity around one of the towers, but not now. Perhaps someone close to Medford could observe WILD's signal strength in the next few days to see if it seems STRONGER during critical hours!

Making some repairs to our array and getting ready for the WILD diplex.

off topic ....you can download mp3 files of the Stephanie Miller show at her web site...they have been doing this for less than a month....

im also curious as to see if the boost will help 1430....latest communications from the station indicate some movement on 1200's situation.....maybe things are finally happening....they will never make any inroads into the city without significant signal improvement
