WXKT--does anyone listen?

Not sure if WXKT (103.7) qualifies as ATL, but I get it OK in Gwinnett.

Does anyone else listen to this station? I have noticed that there are NO spots sold in the evenings (after about 7 PM)...nothing but promos for the rest of the station's schedule (Savage, Howard, Boortz, Zoller, Hannity, Levin). No spots, no PSAs, nada. How is Cox doing with this station?

The only other time I have heard a station go spot-free was back when WGST-FM on 105.7 did Rush reruns overnights and there were no (local) spots then. You got to hear all kinds of weird stuff in the breaks, like extra Paul Shanklin bits and "Spatula City" by Weird Al Yankovic. But this was after 1 or 2 AM, not in the evening right after PM drive. And you still heard the (re-run) national spots.

Some of the News Talks up that way were on high alert when it signed on...I'm sure WDUN was antsy at first, because they lost Zoller over it, and ditched music for N/T on 102.9 to counteract it...but from what I understand, the impact on 550/102.9 has been very little. Website seems pretty benign. Apparently, there's not much promotional or sales momentum at 103.7...I dont know what, if any, staff they have that is dedicated solely to that signal. Probably 1-2 sales people.

You'd have to think that the 750 simulcast on 95.5 is effectively cannabalizing it (Boortz, Clark, Hannity play at identical times as on the mother ship) and that they'll think of something else to program. My station overlaps theirs quite a bit and I don't hear that much chatter about it.

Agreed. Unless and until Cox moves 95.5 intown, 95.5 will probably remain a better signal to listen to in most of WXKT's coverage area from Boortz through Hannity. I do like listening to Zoller in the AM and Savage in the evenings.

jabba17, to answer your question on whether or not anyone listens to WXKT, I listen online whenever I can. It's rare when I do listen. Not too long after they signed on the air, I was able to get their signal pretty good here in Woodstock on the FM dial. Then their signal dropped meaning you have to go further north and east to pick it up including where you live in Gwinnett County.

I finally heard a spot around 10 PM tonight. Unfortunately, it was for Just Brakes. They must buy anything!

Sounds like the crack WXKT sales department is really "brake-ing" the bank! :D

Hey, I know what would get people listening: "103 minutes of music, commercial-free, while you work!"

At least we know that they "really do care" about WXKT, at least...
