The music that Mix (and apparently WXLO) has is not party-friendly - unless you come from a family of WRKO rockheads (as exemplified by those GEICO TV commercials)! :
Did I write WRKO? I meant WAAF rockheads! Same company - I had Entercom on my mind! ;D
I should have pointed out that Mix (and probably WXLO) have a different idea of what the 1980s was all about (early alternative rock - aka new wave - and heavy metal) than I do. I don't consider Duran Duran, U2, The Police, Talking Heads, Huey Lewis, AC/DC, Wang Chung, Cyndi Lauper (who was on WBCN months before hitting Hitradio, MTV and Kiss, in that order), Motley Crue, The Cure, Quiet Riot and Def Leppard party music - unless you're one of those WAAF rockheads. What I do consider party music (which Mix will never play in a million years):
Double Dutch Bus - Frankie Smith
White Lines - Grandmaster Flash
Give It To Me Baby - Rick James
The Rain - Oran "Juice" Jones
Rumors - Timex Social Club
Word Up - Cameo
Fantastic Voyage - Lakeside
I'm Coming Out - Diana Ross
anything by Michael Jackson, Madonna or Prince
Keep On Movin' - Soul II Soul
Teardrops - Womack and Womack
Rapper's Delight - Sugarhill Gang
Candy Girl - New Edition
I.O.U. - Freeez
Celebration and Get Down On It - Kool & the Gang
Too Turned On - Alisha
I Can't Wait - Nu Shooz
Diamond Girl - Nice and Wild
Now adding this will bring a lot of variety, and maybe - just maybe - you won't see me complain about Mix basically being a rock station for a while! :-\
