WXLY 102.5

So what's going on at WXLY lately. It looks like the last PD, Chris Rivers, is gone? No longer listed on the website. The last time I heard the station last year I thought it sounded pretty bad - lots of 70s and 80s AC songs that I didn't think went too well. It definately wasn't the mainly-60s traditional-sounding Oldies station I remembered from the year before. Lots of variety and rare songs. However...it looks like it's mostly 60s and 70s again. What's going on there? :-[

most oldies stations still in the "traditional '60s" mode are dying. It's either move along or change format if you expect to continue generating revenue.

I have to agree here. The traditional 60's-70's station is a dying cause. If they are going to succeed, then they need to be more of a classic hits format. A prime example is WOMG here in Columbia. If you look at the last several books, they have done nothing but go down where AC formats, CHR and country and urban stations are either holding their own or are gaining listeners as well as revenue.
