Wxmc

This week in the trades it looks like WXMC 1310 AM, formerly WBIO, formerly WQTK formerly WPRJ, Parsippany is being sold to World Indian Radio.

Yeah, but

I know it is approximately 1 kilowatt and a standalone am station, but isn't $30,000 a bargain rate for something
like that, especially located in the metro-NY area? James Chladek, the owner had a travel show on WBTB-TV,
Channel 68 when it was independent back in the 1970's and 1980's. He is an interesting character, having pioneered
cable-access programming in Manhattan when cable only penetrated Manhattan because of the buildings and because
normally you would not be able to receive over the air television programming.

Money without discretion...

Ya know if someone is silly enough to OVERPAY for something that is worth a much more negligible amount, then shame on them and CONGRATS to the Seller... capitalism at its best. For a 1kw DA it does have quite the coverage namely during the day and even with marginal power at night. Based on the name of the Buyer, I am willing to say that they are in the "game" just for the sake of "having it so no one else can" despite the fact that this station went for somewhere just shy of $1,000,000.00 If I happened to actually have that kind of money laying around I'd love to have jumped into the Buying game but not for that price... This seems to be a case of Severe Short-sidedness. Good for the Seller who definitely got the long end of the stick in this deal.
