WXNT ratings

As soon as Entercom figures that the CBS Sports net is not working out, they would be well advised to consider a local and live oldies Top 40 format.
They are paying for the ratings so no matter how low they go, there will still be some sort of a number reported. Even .01 is a rating, of sorts.

Why stop there? Why not go live all the time with nothing recorded at all? Why not hire a studio orchestra and dig up Xavier Cugat or Nelson Riddle to lead it. Why not bring back "Fibber McGee" and "The Whistler" while you're at it?

If you're going to piss away a fortune on a format that virtually no one under 55 wants and no agency or smart advertiser will ever buy, then you might as well go all out.

That may be the case at the moment. Movie studios are now shifting more of their focus away from the younger demos to the older demos. They follow the money.

While movie studios are going for older demo's doesnt mean Older people are gonna drift back over to AM Radio for 50's and 60's Oldies. Heck WERK in Muncie which still brands themselves as an Oldies station mainly focus on mid 70's to mid 80's music with Some late 60's early 70's and Late 80's early 80's hits on the station

OLDIES STATIONS PLAYING 80's now is about as far back an oldies station will draw listeners and advertisers

its hard to sell what most people viewed as Oldies music in the 50's and Early 60's music especially when those songs are 50 to 60 years old.

No, people won't move to AM radio in droves. For one thing, the AM band sounds terrible now. It's full of all kinds of extra hash and noise that it didn't have 10 years ago.

60s-70s can work on the radio though. Look at Cleveland, where WMJI plays primarily mid 60s-mid 70s. Maybe they don't get every buy, but with these kind of numbers they have to have more than just 55+ listening and they have to be making a little bit of money.

"Not so fast, my friend."

WGLD didn't, despite being in the top 5 in the 12+. Virtually all the listeners were way at the old end. It wasn't making nearly as much money as a signal that big should.

I don't know the Cleveland market. Maybe the situation is different in "The Heart of Rock 'n' Roll." I just wouldn't assume, knowing what the truth was/is in Indy.

The Cleveland station isn't just in the top 5 though, it's a solid #1, so it's not likely it's all 55+. It's likely a station that has been doing the format for a while and has a lot going on, strong morning show etc.

There are lots of stations that have good 6+ ratings that are rate very poorly 25-54. WGN-FM is one, WLS is another. Both are in the top 5 in Chicago, and outside the top 20 in the 25-54 demo.

??? ??? ???

WGN would probably love to have an FM. That 1970 court order is still in effect, though.

Durr, got that backwards. WLS-FM and WGN is what I meant to type.

How long has it been since an Indy station played oldies? 10 years? How long has it been since people have listened to music on AM in Indianapolis? More than 10 years? Maybe programming geniuses should take these factors into consideration?

WYXB has been the default pop oldies station for a few years now. Although they now concentrate on 80s, they are the only outlet for a lot of the pop stuff from the 70s and even some from the 60s.

Well They were Adult Standards in Am stereo and sounded very good..Adult Standards today is considered as our oldies of today which is a mix of mid 60's and 70's. Known as WMYS
