WXOF FM Yankeetown

WXOF FM Yankeetown this morning moved from 96.3 to 96.7 going from a 132m at 3.5 watts to 132.m at 14.5 watts or from a Class A to Class C3 other moves in the area WEKJ-LP Chassowitska moves from 96.7 to 107.9 while its translator in Inverness goes from 96.7 to 104.9. WOCA's Ocala translator will go from 96.7 to 96.3 a bunch of moves this am.

^ Kilowatts, you mean. :)

This is the first non-translator 96.7 in FL since the 1980s (Jupiter FL, which either moved or went off the air---someone can clear the air here). Big as FL is, it's quite interesting that that would be the case.

Actually it increased from 3,500 to 14,500 watts.

I thought this station actually moved from 96.7 to 96.3 a few years ago to allow the move of WSUN-FM/Holiday to 97.1.

WXOF originally was on 97.1 A licensed to Beverly Hills. That license is now occupied by WJQB and is on 106.3 C3 licensed to Spring Hill. That move occurred when 97.1 A Beverly Hills traded frequency with WLVU 106.3 A Holiday resulting in a power and class upgrade for both stations. The Beverly Hills frequency was later re-licensed to Spring Hill in an effort to move its tower closer to Palm Harbor. That move is also the reason WINV-AM was re-licensed from Inverness to Beverly Hills. The current WXOF has always been on 96.3 A after moving from 106.3 C3 to make room for WGUL-FM (Now WJQB) on 106.3. WXOF has moved to 96.7 in order to upgrade to a class C3 ND since a ND class upgrade was not possible on its former frequency of 96.3.

Mark,

That makes my head hurt just thinking about all those moves..lol
