WXRC For Sale?

I cannot understand how a 100,000-watt signal like 95.7 FM that does not subscribe to Arbitron is continuing to survive! The station's owner, Pacific Broadcasting Group (I don't know why they call themselves a "group" when it appears WXRC is the only one they run), must be waiting for the right buyer with the perfect deal. Discuss.

I'll also point out that CLT is the only Top 25 radio market with an NFL franchise that does not have a sports radio station on FM. 610 is above a 1 share, and all-national 1660 has half of that share, with "ESPN 730" not even making it into the ratings... are they non-subscribers, too? Pathetic.

The station is paid for and the operating costs are very small. The guy who owns it loves what he does. Why sell?

I think he missed the opportunity to make maximum coin off of a sale, but he doesn't care because his margins are just fine. No reason to sell at all. Now, when he's in that great control room in the sky, who knows?

The group is WAIZ 630 Hickory, WNNC 1230 Newton and WXRC Hickory even though the AM's are owned by Newton-Conover Communications, same owner.

If he's found a different way to make money and he's paying the bills I say go for it!

Why do we need Sports on FM?

If you were asking if 610 and 1660 are ARB subscribers I'd say probably, since they are both CBS owned.

I think there are a lot of us who would do exactly what Dave Lingafelt is doing with WXRC.
Why beat the guy down because he's not mainstreaming it to the max, and hasn't taken the maximum cash buyout, and has a Dave95.7 format?

AMEN!

With no debt to service, you'd have to try really hard to NOT make money in a market like Charlotte. I'm sure Dave is having the time of his life with these stations.

WXRC is a Family-Owned Operation. No Corporate BS is involved. That is how WXRC remainds independant to this day. As other posters say;

MORE POWER TO WXRC! Stay Independant until The End.

Steve.

Dave is never going to sell. I know that as I worked for him back from the mid-90s to 2005 on both a part-time and full-time basis.

While I do understand the desire to have am FM SportsTalk station in or close to the Charlotte market, especially with football and basketball teams here, I do also respect the owners of any station to to do things the way they see fit. Isn't it all about freedom of speech and the right to take their business to the level they see fit, whether or not the majority (or minority) agrees?

Is this like a cycle thing and it's time to talk about Dave and WSRC again? You all know that Dave is Dave and he will not make any big changest to WXRC.

Amem! When it comes to WXRC, I think an old Carolina Panthers coach said it best..."It Is What It Is".
