WXRK PD KIM MONROE OUT

ALL ACCESS reporting that CBS RADIO Alternative WXRK (92.3 K-ROCK)/CLEVELAND PD KIM MONROE is out following a snafu with the newly syndicated OPIE & ANTHONY SHOW. More details to follow.

As I said over at that other place...As predicted, I said that Monroe would leave. However, I couched it in terms of her quitting after being forced to take the Opie & Anthony show from corporate suits. The ends were still correct. However, what's this talk about a dump button? If you're going to play a recorded show, hours after the fact, shouldn't the production staff be going over the thing for content, to run in the time alotted, equalization, drop-out, etc.? Sounds like the PD, and Prod. Dir., as well as production staff, should all be sacked for being lazy and ineffective.*IF* this actually happened, it was immensely foolish. I concur that 92.3 was sounding good. But that's not enough when the captain of the ship takes a sit down.Better question--why is CBS taking the chance that nasty language would be used in the first place by two guys who have a habit of this type of stuff? If it was in the 3pm showing, it was also in the 6am showing--where there was an equal chance that it would be heard. What is so hard about not swearing on the air? This is what happens when you don't learn your lesson the first time. Retreads are retreads for a reason.

I wonder if her being let go today had anything to do with the book coming out...and it being a Friday. Coincidence? Most likely not. I've been there. :(12 plus numbers have 92-3 up .2 tenths. However, that doesn't mean 18-34's or 25-54's were good. Although WMMS was off. Could've been multiple issues. I don't think the issue with the expletive going OTA was the main one.AllAccess.com has revised it's posting from earlier...CBS RADIO Alternative WXRK (92.3 K-ROCK)/CLEVELAND PD KIM MONROE is out. APD DOM NARDELLA (aka NARD) has been appointed interim PD, while the search begins for a new PD. MONROE said, "The reason I was given was it was a budget cut. It's unfortunate, but I'm ready for my next opportunity. "

According to sources, Prod Director Tony Fraser was also let go at the end of the day. Havent confirmed yet.

they probably should just give the gig to nard......if they are gonna have syndicated talk in morning and pm...he hs enuff skill to run the rest of it...the two most important dayparts have been taken out of his hands...go nardboy....

I agree Nard should get the gig, but he has way more skills than people give him credit for. But, will Nardboys services be needed in the near future? Will CBS turn K Rock into another Free FM? Kim's dismissal is only the 1st of many changes to come.

it will be interesting to see where kim lands.........good point about "free fm"......but wouldn;t that just hand things to 'MMS ???

Didnt they already hand things over? The whole "everything alternative" does'nt really seem to be working. Lets face it, it didnt work for The End back in the day so why would it work for KRock now? Alternative may be popular, but it sure dont show in the ratings. They didnt seem to market the station at all. Looks like it was being set up to fail. Pretty sad really.

I wouldn't be surprised to see 92.3 go to a hot talk/alternative hybrid like their Baltimore sister station WHFS "105.7 Free Fm". They have talk during the day and alternative music during nights and weekends. Right now 92.3 is only one early afternoon show away from that right now.

Kim won't post in the forums, but she did ask that everyone be thanked for the "kind words about how the station has been going lately". So, take that as a thanks from Kim.

She should land on her feet pretty quick. Good luck Ms. Monroe.
