WXRT The early years 1972 to 1976

Hey Guys:

I was wondering if you guys can help me with some dates.

After doing some research I found out that WXRT 93.1 started playing Progressive Rock 12 mid to 6am Monday to Sunday on Aug 7, 1972 and then went fulltime on April 26, 1976. I was hoping some one can tell me the exact dates or close to it when:

1. WXRT expanded P/R 10PM till 6AM?

2. WXRT expanded P/R 8PM till 6AM?

3. WXRT expanded P/R 3PM till 6AM?

I was also wondering, I was reading about the history of AAA radio and couldn't find what I was looking for.

When did the format AAA come into existance and when did WXRT offically become a AAA station.

Thanks guys for your help.
T.J.

WXRT has been the same format for nigh on 40 years. They got the AAA label when it came out. Before that they were considers AOR or Progressive. If you are really interested I am sure Norm Winer would be happy to give you the info you need.

Hey Neil:

Thanks for that info. I looked up everything I could on the term AAA and I couldn't find the year that the term AAA was started. Would you know?

How do I get in touch with Norm?

T.J.
