WXRT vs. JACK

Well if they plan on going full tilt with Jack, Infiniti better do something quick about WXRT!

Too much redudancy with these two stations. XRT needs to dump all the Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Skynyrd, Beatles and all the classic rock they play. Ease up on the big 80's and 90's Alt-hits. That's Jacks domain!

XRT needs to evolve, more true Adult Album Alternative cuts, more Blues, more music from across the pond. If anyones familiar with BBC Radio 6, http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/index.shtml?logo that is what XRT should be -- true cutting edge music.

XRT always led the way in the U.S. as far as breaking new music and being the benchmark alternative (Finest Rock) station.

If they dont step it up, I see it flipping in the next 18 months. Stranger things have happened. It would be a shame to see "Mega 93.1 -- Chicago's Reggaeton Pulse" or "93 Jamz -- Chicago's Classic Hip-Hop" or "93 Jill-FM -- Playing What SHE Wants".

Don't laugh, if Jack steals XRT's less adventurous listeners and the suits see a dip in 93's ratings, I know I'm exagerating, but they'll do that! Nobody thought they would sink a top 10 station like 104.3, hell XRT would've been a good candidate to get Jacked instead of 104.3.

Infiniti would do good by the public and could absolutely afford to let XRT, a true class act in this town, to spread it's wings and evolve.

I know it is, but David Eduardo corrected me on this a few weeks ago, so I figured I'd keep doing it to get under people's skin. How do I feel under your skin, I've got your goat here with me too!

I doubt that anyone at XRT has lost a snooze over much of anything that has gone down in Chicago radio for many, many years. WXRT is one of those few stations that do what they do really well, always have and always will, and... they know it (and so does corporate). WXRT isn't a "Mega" or "Jack" or "Drive", "Jill", "Pulse", "Mountain", "Wolf", "Hot" or whatever that staff is loath to contemplate ever becoming.

WXRT is WXRT. It's like WGN or WLS. it will always be here.

. . . but 'LS isn't "The Rock of Chicago" anymore.

David shouldn't be correcting people, with all HIS typos:)

What does David's ability to type have to do with his correcting someone on a company name?

I don't think WXRT needs to change much. Even if sister station Jack hurts them at first, XRT will rebound. WXRT is an institution while Jack might end up just being a fad or novelty.

I would be careful to move XRT in the direction you suggest. If they get too current and/or unfamiliar they could become a 1 share (or below) radio station.

The point is INFINITI is a car and INFINITY is a media company was what he said.
It started out as a typo, now I do it because it's funny. Im just gonna start using Viacom in my posts, because if I use INFINITI, there will always be a stickler out there telling me it's spelled with a Y.

Yeah, and WMAQ is... oh, never mind. LOL

Won't be able to use Viacom--the split-up is going to take place. Infinity will be part of the new corporate entity CBS, along with the TV network, UPN, Paramount TV, King World, Showtime and Simon & Schuster. Viacom will continue to be control Paramount Pictures, MTV, BET and Blockbuster.

At least one can hope that we'll hear once again, "WBBM-AM Chicago--a CBS Radio Station."
