WXSS Milwaukee 5-14-02

Found this aircheck while cleaning out my hard drive today. This was a copy from one of my tapes. This is one of my favorite CHR airchecks mostly because of the perfect balance in the playlist. I still have yet to hear another CHR balance the playlist between the rhythmic and rock this well since WXSS tweaked into the rhythmic direction in early 2003. Keith Eubanks was the VO guy. I remember him being pretty good. Let me know what you think.

They started in June of 1998. That would have made them about 5. I have another tape from the same time period with Jagged Edge - Where The Party At into Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train into P. Diddy - I Need A Girl. Also in the afternoon drive.

Wow, great sounding station. Whats wrong with playing a few non rhythmic gold songs per hour? Hopefully someday CHR will lean less rap again...

Wow! Was Brian Kelly the PD at that point? Some pretty gutsy music decisions.

Brian Kelly was PD before Kiss even started there June 19th. He was there when it was rhythmic AC "Magic 103.7 Rhythm & Romance" which was just plain crazy. Bob Carslile, LeAnn Rimes, Spice Girls,K-Ci & JoJo, Erika Badu, Celine Dion, Wild Cherry, Aretha Franklin, TLC, Fugees, Alicia Bridges, on the same station. Sounded like Soft AC (Which it was before it went rhythmic AC) smashed up with pop, urban AC and rhythmic oldies. At the beginning of Kiss there was plenty of 80s pop/rock in there which lasted until 2000 or so. John Mellencamp, Timex Social Club, Clash, etc. Definately different from the average.
