According to listing put out by RadioTime, WXTU is the number one listened to contemporary country station nationally per their service. They are #3 on the overall list, but #1,2,4 & 5 are all classic country stations. Not sure why this is, is it more locals listen on the internet compared to smaller markets, are New York City area country listeners chosing it as the closest major market station, or are people outside the area finding it better than their local stations? I would think WSIX in Nashville would be high on the list as a high profile contemporary country station that was until recently available on xm, but they're 43rd on the list. The next-highest contemporary country stations were KSCS Dallas, WUSN Chicago, WZZK Brimingham, and WIVK Knoxville, all good stations. In 25 years XTU has obviously found a formula that works, not only for local over the air listening but people are going to the extra trouble of listening online.
