WXXB Lafayette Weekends

Me and my kids have been really enjoying the new weekend personality on WXXB. Does anyone have any idea who he is? My oldest daughter is in college in Terre Haute and she said he came from one of the stations down there... :)

I think his name is Parttimey McLoserton. Or Hasbeeny McBoardOp?

Just a guess.

;)
He sounds like he's African-American. I hope they allow him to play just a little more urban. We listen to WAZY weekend nites cause Stickyboots plays everything up to date. I hate the name though. WXXB needs a new personality for their nights. Logan is good, but he needs to be on pop radio. He can get annoying. My daughter showed me his myspace page, and I'm like, no way!!! He even looks annoying. I called him to request that song that says, "bed...bed...bed..." and he didn't play it. What a loser. Stickyboots, GO TO WXXB!!! I'll sign the petition for him during my weekend nights...

Stickyboots has a sticky situation as he is contracted and works out of their South Bend Domination center. Doubt you will see B getting very "sticky"

But Logan is on pop radio. ???
I really don't consider B102-9 pop radio. What's popular is the music played on, lets say, MTV. The stuff B102-9 plays isn't pop. It's what they choose to play. If I hear another damn song with Timbaland or Justin Timberlake or Kanye West (Good Life is cool tho), I'm going to vomit. MTV plays stuff by urban artists, and MTV is pop. I guess urban music isn't popular enough for our city. Nothing wrong with bringing new sounds to the same boring environment. I am a 40 year old white women. I like to listening to stuff like Soulja Boy, J. Holiday, and Kesha Cole. I thought that music was popular. I listened to my daughters IPOD and she has the popular stuff. Stuff that Lafayette doesn't play. MTV, hell and even BET, plays popular stuff. B102-9 doesn't. Stickyboots does. Does Sticky have a website or anything. He brings in all different types of music. The REAL POP stuff....

Lafayette is a small market. A market that is predominatly lopsided for the caucasian audience. Not that you cant play an "Urban" hit. However an Urban or even a Rhythmic station wont work in the market because it needs money to fuel it. Urban cant take enough of the revenue share to survive.

That was very inciteful. As a faithful listener, its good to hear the reasons for a certain genre not to get played. I just thought that the whole rap music thing was what was popular these days. I come from a time where Mariah Carey was the leader in urban (I know early 90's). It's sort of a shame that the music isn't even given a chance though. I mean, what happened to the listener saying what goes and what doesn't. I obviously understand that it would work in Lafayette to have an Urban station, but does that mean it can't be played alongside other popular music? It's popular. Thanks quackattack34 for the incite. I'll remember that when I call to request some music... ;)

I don't know what the hell stations you guys are listening to... but EVERY TIME I flip thru B1029 or Z965, that hip-hop crap seems to be all they're playing.

For the urban stuff you're looking for, you're gonna have to get XM or Sirius, cause it'll never be heard in a Midwestern market like Lafayette/West Lafayette.

It's not that I want to hear just rap. I just like the stuff that I watch on MTV Countdown. My kids have me into watching that. It's not like the music on that countdown is hardcore. I recently looked at the Billboard site and they have urban music on there I didn't even know existed. I always thought that was a good thing that people show appreciation to various forms of music. The new OneRepublic song has Timbaland on it and he is black. That song is good. If I do recall, Timbaland is from the Hip-Hop or Urban genre. Genre mixing can only bring good...

Kym has been with the station for quite awhile as has everyone else featured on the site.

Brian is no longer with the station, at least I don't think he is. He had a farewell show back in August. I think he went off to college. Sometimes the weekend broadcasts are better than the ones during the week. The morning show is great. And Marci's show is great. The weekend makes me want to go out and be young again. LOL. :D

I'm A WOMAN! I'm 40! Come talk to me!

For anybody on here that doesn't already know..."Night Time Delight" on this board is Logan from WXXB. Sorry to blow your cover dude.

Also, weekends or not, WXXB just sucks. Their morning show is a virtual blackhole. They don't even laugh at their jokes, they think negative comments=funny. It's totally sad. HOWEVER, Lafayette itself doesn't have that much in morning radio no matter what station you listen to, so at least they're on an even plane I guess.

I think the morning show is good to a degree. Marci is a breath of fresh air. I enjoy her. It depends on the topic whether its funny or not. I listen to them during the Harry Potter giveaways, and that was a blast. Does that handle really belong to Logan? If so, ummm. LoL. I'm kidding. I hope they are able to secure Marci for the long run, cause she is the breadwinner. The whole weekend staff is great. Kym has been a fixture with them for a long time cause I have listened to her for years. The new guy has great, great potential. I still would like to know who he is. The Logan could be replaced, Marci should stay, Tony B. is great in the mornings. I think he is the program director. If so, he needs to fire the guy who selects music to be played. What happened to them going out in the community? It's like all you see now is the WAZY streetteam. My daughter wants to meet the new guy and Marci. My friend from work won a stocking stuffer prize. That's a great promotional thing. WXXB has what every station needs to survive. How could you doubt them for this market? :-*

Just curious how soccer moms and 40 something women who have nothing to do with the radio industry, except listening to it, show up on a radio board to discuss formats? If it's real I think it's great and if I was a programmer I would get all of the info I could. But really, is anyone else a little suspicious? I know a lot of soccers moms and 40 something women and they don't have much time to discuss the ins and outs of programming nor do they care.

I didn't get the memo about how you're supposed to be secret about posting on boards. Is that what's cool to do these days? I didn't know. Honestly, I wouldn't even read these postings if I didn't think they were so hilarious. :D It's not like anyone in our business doesn't know what websites like these are for. If they really were any diffrent, I would have seen a thread about the return of Bob Vizza (which I know all of you, like me, love). But seriously, if I really need an AMP joke, a bashing of the morning mess, or how messed up KLU is, I'll make sure to come right back here.

Soccermom: Thanks, that was my first "I'm getting bashed on the internet thread" I actualy have it posted on me wall.

Radio Prime: No sweat on "busting my cover". If there were more crack detectives like you in this world we woulda had this Barry Bonds and OJ thing solved along time ago. Nice job Nancy Drew...o I didn't blow your cover did I? ;D
