Big Boss Radio 101 didn't last very long, as I recall. Wikipedia says 1966. This was the first of many changes from 1966-1971 that ended with the WRIF call letter change.
It was so short lived that I believed at one time that I had actually heard WNOE on E-Skip and mistook it for WXYZ-FM.
I was about 40 miles from the WRIF transmitter and I did indeed hear WNOE-FM at times. I believe that WNOE-FM was once a simulcast of WNOE(AM), and followed a similar format path to AOR as WRIF.
The Love Progressive Rock format had some connection with the new ABC FM network, perhaps the network feed carried the format? That is my recollection without referring to Wikipedia or other sources. It was carried on the same stations also in my recollection.
The simulcast era may have seemed like a waste of spectrum, but look how AM talk formats are turning up on FM now. It gets inside buildings, is usually omnidirectional or close to omnidirectional, and gets into areas beyond NIF contours of AM stations.
