WYAY 106.7 and sports

Have they put sports back on the True Oldies station regularly or is this just temporary? Last week, sports was on Tuesday and now this week it was on Tuesday again and then tonight. Does anyone know of another good "oldies" station? I've tried 102.9 and they were playing sports also. Any ideas because I have a feeling sports has taken over on some nights?

Tech on Tue & Thu? What "sports" did you hear?

Re: WYAY 106.7 and sports

I didn't listen to it but just long enough to find out they wouldn't be playing the "oldies" but I thought it was a pre-game show for something. That's all I needed to know to turn it off. :(

Re: WYAY 106.7 and sports

And Majic 102.9 is carrying the Atlanta Braves since WDUN became the flagship for the Gwinnett Braves.

Re: WYAY 106.7 and sports

Citadel is becoming like too many small market stations that we have worked. Put anything on the air to raise money. Look for all day remotes sponsored in half hour blocks at county fairs!

Re: WYAY 106.7 and sports

I heard a promo on WDUN this AM saying that they were going to have HS football--three different Hall County games--on WGGA, WDUN, and WMJE. Too bad all the Gwinnett County stations are now Latino (and WIMO can't break the county line after dark).

Re: WYAY 106.7 and sports

There will be a FM Sports station in Atlanta any day now! Bank on it. The two main AM sports stations both have nightime signal challenges, but combined they produce more than $20 million of revenue. with so many FM stations struggling, one of them--Dave FM, WYAY would be two good potential as they already have some sports on. Sports is migrating to the FM side all over the country and Atlanta is poised for the same.

Re: WYAY 106.7 and sports

I keep thinking ClearChannel will take one of it's rimshot stations and go sports. They certainly have a couple of marginal signals which would work for news/talk/sports.
I still wonder why they don't put WGST up on one of the FMs. Are the Mexican stations really doing that well revenue wise?

Monday: Randy & Spiff together again doing oldies.
Tuesday: Randy & Spiff asked to do sports.
Wednesday: (well, we won't go there..)

A county of 789,499 (est.) doesn't have a single local non-Latino station? Say it ain't so! ::)
