WYAY files application to move to Sandy Springs

Dickey Broadcasting and Cumulus Media are two completely seperate licesnees as well as companies. Even though they share board memebers, the FCC and SEC treats them as two completely seperate entities, so the ownership rules do not apply as a combined entity. Dickey broadcasting can have 8 stations as well as Cumulus Media.

Does that mean if one of the Cox Heirs wants to start up a media company (radio and TV) in Atlanta or Dayton they can?

The WYAY app includes the Dickey stations when calculating ownership limits. See https://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/w...xt=25&appn=101480213&formid=301&fac_num=48727 , exhibit 5:

STATION WYAY IS LOCATED IN THE ATLANTA, GEORGIA ARBITRON METRO. ACCORDING TO THE COMMISSION'S LOCAL OWNERSHIP TIERS, IN A METRO REPORTED BY BIA AS HAVING 45 OF MORE COMMERCIAL AND NONCOMMERCIAL EDUCATIONAL FULL SERVICE STATIONS, A LICENSEE MAY HAVE A COGNIZABLE INTEREST IN UP TO 8 FULL POWER RADIO STATIONS, NOT MORE THAN 5 OF WHICH ARE IN THE SAME SERVICE (AM OR FM). IN THE ATLANTA, GEORGIA ARBITRON METRO, THERE ARE 87 SUCH STATIONS (SEE ATTACHED BIA LISTING). THIS APPLICATION COMPLIES WITH THE OWNERSHIP LIMITS SET FORTH IN 73.3555 BECAUSE THE APPLICANT HAS AN ATTRIBUTABLE INTEREST IN 4 FM STATIONS (WNNX, WWWQ, WKHX AND WYAY) AND 3 AM STATIONS (WCNN, WFOM AND WIFN).

Also, that would have been a convenient way for the Cox family to address the whole AJC ownership thing instead of having to get waivers from the FCC.

I still think if Cumulus buys LFM, they need to preserve the Q100 and Star 94 branding and call the new combined CHR/Hot AC station "94Q". ;D

The app has absolutely nothing to do with this engineer blather. Jabba17 wins with #2 in a recent post within this thread. The birds don't like Gainesville. Chicken or otherwise.

2) "Moving" a station "out" of Gainesville to enable carrying some syndicated programming (talk? PBP?) that already has clearance elsewhere in Gainesville? Is 106.7 going to FM talk with Huckabee as the centerpiece? The new home of TRG as 100.5 flips to something else? New FM side to 680? New FM home of the Braves (to the chagrin of WGGA and WDUN-FM, hence the CoL move)?

Falcons are moving to Dickeyland/106.7? Or "birds" meaning satellite delivered syndication?
