Others had posted that live, local talent was on the way to WYAY-FM True Oldies 106.7. I believe Al Hardee told us this. Where is the live local d.j.`s? Who are they and when are they coming?

i thought 'goodtimes' was a shoe-in for weekends....

zzzzz.............

If True Oldies wants more local jocks I'am in. I had always wanted to work there since is was Y106. I was so crushed when it changed because I felt like I lost my dream.

I saw True Oldies had a fantastic trend in the numbers that came out last week.

What I want to know is, who gave GoodTimes&GreatOldies a diary?

I didn't think citadel had money for weekend folks. They can barely afford anyone during the week, why on earth would they hire anyone other than a board op. Just as long as it isn't Boomer. He doesn't have the mojo to work those systems and make it sound good at the same time.

I knew that True Oldies 106.7-WYAY had a good shot at getting some good ratings. They play a VERY large playlist of Oldies. A VERY short playlist killed Fox 97 and Cool 105.7. True Oldies will continue to grow.... As far as Boomer goes, no offense but please keep him away from True Oldies 106.7. Boomer is famous for becoming Program Director at the old Oldies Lake 102.3 in mid 1999. He took a very loyal audience at the station and switched the format to obsure album cuts back on 1/1/2000. By 1/10/2000, the format was switched back to Oldies by the owners and Boomer lasted about another two weeks there before being let go..... PLEASE keep him away from True Oldies 106.7! I would like to hear some folks like Al Hardee, John Curren, Scott Evans, etc... there on the weekends. Big Al had told us here awhile back that some local talent was coming to the weekends on WYAY.

Do you remember Boomer when he ran Oldies lake 102-WLKQ down, changed the format and 10 days later, the owners changed it back to Oldies and then chased him off??? he did really mess up WLKQ back in early 2000!

I understand that WLKQ was sold in 2004. However, Boomer was brought in as the PD in mid 1999. He really wrecked the station and the format. Finally, the owners quite frankly, switched the format back to Oldies after 10 days of crazy album cuts and thaey sat Boomer`s belongings outside the station with a note for him that he was fired! Have you ever heard this story? Mrs. Joseph (wife of the owner) went down to the station after receiving angry phone calls from listeners at her home. She had a royal FIT and kicked Boomer to the curb! I don`t think that he deserved that kind of treatment!

He deffinatley didn't deserve that kind of treatment,if they wanted to fire him there was a whole lot better way of doing those things. If 106.7 wants to add a jock Mark McCain would be a good fit,he worked at the old Fox 97 and often times filled in for Randy and Spiff. Mark Mc Cain was good on Eagle,he's the kind of jock that could do any format without a problem.

I agree that Mark McCain would be great for Wyay. Do you remeber Gene Lovin` from Fox 97? I would like to hear him too!

No I don't think I remember Gene Lovin',I didn't listen to Fox 97 all that much,i remberr Randy and Spiff and a coupple of others and that's it.

To my knowledge Gene Lovin' is alive and well in his hometown of Chattanooga. Back in the late 70's/early 80's he was the PD/afternoon drive of WDOD (wonderful dynamo of dixie) prior to WUSY(US101) coming to town in 1983 and running 'DOD out the country format. He then worked part time in Chattanooga & Atlanta at the same time. I live in Dalton & it was not unusual to hear Gene doing an early midday Saturday shift in Chattanooga on oldies GT108 and then about 2 1/2 hours later on the air for a late afternoon/early evening shift on Fox 97. That was cool 'cause GT was north of the Tennessee River & it would take almost that much time to get to the Fox studios on Northside Drive! I bumped into Gene at the Chattanooga Baskin Robins with my family about a year & a half ago & he looked great, hadn't changed a bit, still as always the perfect gentleman - a true rarity in this business. I think he's still doing production (production director?) & some air work at AC WDEF(Sunny 92.3) in the senic city. - rick
