Just wondering if anyone remembered this phase of WYCR, I heard some of it on a scoped aircheck and it was kind of interesting, a hybrid of CHR and modern rock. Do any airchecks exist?

Instead of talking about the past, why hasn't any one mentioned on this board that WYCR has taken the York market by storm? From nowhere to numnber ONE 25-54 in less than six months is quite a feat. And beating WGTY, the long time ratings leader in only their second book is BIG NEWS! Is this board so dominated by out of work part=timers that no one realizes the victory that WYCR "The Peak" just won. As a broadcaster from eastern PA, I wonder if you guys are sleeping!!!!

Oh goodie. Another one from an anonymous poster who insults most of the people on the board, and hasn't even read enough to know that this subject has been brought up a number of times.

Yes, Billy-Bob, WYCR is a well-executed station - especially for a little company in Hanover, PA. We know. We've discussed it. We laughed. We cried. Had a few beers. Fell asleep. Woke up. Read more flaming anonymous messages from people who think they'll always be "employed" broadcasters. Smirked. Shook our heads. Giggled. Kicked the dog. Pulled the dog's teeth off of our toes. And threw darts at ads of those nasty satellite companies. Boo hoo.

By the way, many of the posters here (including myself) are still in the business; we just like to talk radio. If you don't like what we say, tell us - but if you're going to insult most of the people here, don't expect people to come back at you with, "Hey dude, you're right! How could we be soooo stupid?"

Now, if you'll excuse me. I need to go back to sleep.

Peace.

The only bad thing about the Peak is the website. YCR's site was never good, but at least it had information about the station, jock profiles, updated charts, news and even a studio cam at one point. This new site is just a huge ad for the "Peak Card." A+ on the format change, F- to the web developer, they obviously have no clue how to A) Make money on the web B) develope traffic C) inform people about the station and use it has promotional tool.<P ID="signature">______________

Yeah, during 1994 and 1995, although I remember their slogan
being "York's Alternative." Maybe both?

Word at the time was that WYCR was aiming to be the local
Alternative station, but then WQXA-FM flipped to "The Edge"
in May 1995.
