WYLS 670 AM In York Alabama

If it's the R&B-ish type blues (Little Milton, Tyrone Davis, etc.), not interested. If we're talking about the old blues like WABG in Greenwood or the old Blues 780 in Jackson had, now we're talking!

What would Barney say?

My Father (Barney Grant) had a Blues Network on our sister station WSLY, so I don't think he would mind. It's a Saturday thing for now 10am to sign off.

Wayne Grant

You probably are not aware thet your father and I were fellow engineers, and I did the FCC engineering for the inital permit from the FCC for WSLY. Those were good days...regards, J Boyd Ingram

Barney would be excited about it. ...and very proud of Wayne. 670 was Barn's baby. Anything to make it better, snag more listeners and be local- he would be estatic. Just my opinion... but his stations were his life. I can attest to that, after spending several years and many hours learning from him. He was a true radio man. He'd come up with some of the most exciting projects and things to build. I enjoyed every single moment hanging out and learning from him. He was my engineering mentor, like a second dad. -for sure, not a day rolls by that something doesn't make me think of him and my own dad.

J. - I'll never forget it as long as I live. The 1999 NAB was set for April in Vegas. Barn wanted to take ALL of us. Including Barney, myself and 4 jocks...we drove to Jackson, hopped a plane...stopped in Houstin, TX- then hit Vegas. He paid for everything. From plane tickets, rooms, fees and even all 3 meals a day, the whole week. He said, "I want my guys to know they're appreciated and educate them a little." - I think about that, and look at today. I can't think of anyone who would do that. Now, you can work 18 hours non-stop... perhaps get a thank you and they will text that to your phone 4 hours, after you have text them a simple question. (haha)
