Word is they might be hiring a new PD for Hot 104...any news?

Considering they will be stunting with Christmas music before flipping to Country at the first of the year, I assume you mean a country PD?

Good, that'll make two new country stations. Add 98.1 out of FWB
to the scanning dial in P-cola. You're in the most over country-ed
over radioed market in the world. Wait a minute, wouldn't Cumulus
own both?

Paging Hurricane Ivan...paging Hurricane Ivan!

Jeebus Cripes, this would be an awful move if it were to happen. 104.1 USED to be a destination signal. Now the best it can do is try to bite off someone else's success instead of creating it's own.

Consolidated corporate radio brings you more choices...my azz.<P ID="signature">______________

I used to not agree with the notion that Mobile/ Pensacola/ FWB was the most over-radioed market in the nation. But, since there is the potentual to have FIVE twang-stummers throwing a city grade into Pensacola alone , I can no longer argue. We'll see if KSJ, WXBM & Cat can survive the onslaught.

Hmm, it wouldn't happen to be YOU, would it, "V?" ;)

This is ALL absolutely RIDICULOUS!

All you people have done is fire out rumor after rumor. None of them are true, and you keep spreading them, and doing it proudly I might ad.

First you said HOT 104 was flipping several months ago, then September 1, and now your talking about playing christmas music and a flip to country. Nothing is further from the truth. I work there. None of that talk has been discussed, and Cumulus continues to back WYOK, and it's staff members. Before you use the excuse, "of course there's no talk, they wouldn't tell the staff." There are signs when a station is flipping....People don't get bonuses, stations budget is FROZEN, no new promotions, contesting is at a halt, the station MUST file a change of frequency with the FCC....etc. NONE of those are happening.

AJ is working REALLY hard at keeping the daily in's and out's of this station together...and the staff is stretched really thin. I believe that with the staff we have, we're doing just fine. Once Cumulus decides on the right person for the job, everything will be ok.

The BEST part about ALL these posts is NONE of you use your real names! It's funny to look at some of your posts, and I KNOW who the rumor mill is. Dude, stay PART-TIME in Saint Louis working for the station I came from....and KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT! Your sources B.L.O.W.! Get some balls and post your name....until you do that, post about something you know about.

If you knew anything about the Mobile market and radio, you would know there is NO room for another country station. KSJ is the PIG of country, and they do it very well. The CAT in Pensacola is a station that, given the right amount of time, and some little tweaking, could give KSJ a run. ALSO, don't forget about XPM (i think that's them). Not a great station, but it adds THREE to the market. If Cumulus flipped HOT, that would make FOUR country stations in MOBILE. I would LOVE for you to name ANY market that has FOUR country stations in it. What in the world would Cumulus be thinking if they stopped the momentum of HOT to flip it to country? They wouldn't be getting any bigger piece of the revenue pie than they're already getting now. As a matter of fact, they would LOOSE money. Your THEORY is a joke, and NOT well thought out.

STOP spreading your CRAP, and worry about your own job. I've been in radio for only 9 years, but have learned that the people that bitch and spread rumors are ALWAYS the ones that are bitter, and have NO FULL TIME JOBS! Grow up, and think about the damage you do to the HARD WORKING people by spreading your RUMORS. Worry about part-time work in Saint Louis. Mind your own business, and put together a tape so I can go against you and KICK YOUR ASS! When you beat me, or any other hard-working full time jock, then you can post about how COOL you are.

HOT 104
MORNINGS

Sid,

This thread was started by a guy who interviewed for PD and hasn't heard anything from them in weeks. I'll give you a hint: his last name starts with "V" as in "V-Town." (and he's not me)

The fact that you have not had a PD since January says it all. And the source is your own GM, who ran his mouth to someone he was interviewing for a sales manager position. He told him Cumulus had decided it would be better to compete with KSJ than continue trying to compete with WABB.

Dude, you are about to be out of a gig. Do yourself a favor, lose the denial and at least send some packages out. And no, this is not Aaron Tyler, who has not posted once in this thread.

That would be WXBM, the number one rated station in the Pensacola market for many years. Although the country stations have the coverage and range for both markets, they each serve their local area. WXBM dominates in Pensacola, Milton, Jay, and up into southern Alabama (like Brewton and Atmore) but hardly even makes a dent (nor tries to) in Mobile. The reverse is true with 95 KSJ - dominates Mobile but hardly touches Pensacola.

As for Cat Country, they are a Pensacola station. I don't think KSJ has anything to worry about. Their on-air product sounds terrible. KSJ would be in bigger trouble if WXBM ever decided to aggressively go after shares in the Mobile market. WXBM is not a Clear Channel outlet and therefore they don't have the cookie cutter news/traffio/promotions. Also, KSJ and Cat Country use satellite programs in the overnight (Cat does it in the evening too). WXBM uses no satellite programs - they do run Foxworthy and some other syndicated (not satellite-based) content on the weekends. They don't VT and almost all of the time there is a live jock running the show.

I don't understand why you say WXBM isn't a great station... they have the #1 morning show for 12 years running and their on-air product is the best of any country outlet in the area. Plus, their music selection and exposure in the community are great. They are the heritage country station for Pensacola hands down.
