As of 6PM Friday evening - the website (hot104mobile.com) now reads:

"Say tuned to 104.1 FM for a major announcement. More details Monday April 13th at 7pm on this web site."

Interesting, as April 13 is not a Monday!

Whoever wrote that still had a March calendar hanging on the wall. Times must be rough in the office if they don't even know what month is it!

Has anyone heard what flavor of rock they might be cooking up? AOR, Classic, Active, Alternative, AAA, or maybe even Southern Rock or that new "Rockin' Country" fad...

I was reading on Radio and Records Web Site. It said they were going to be Mainstream Rock. You can visit their site for all the details and click on the link to that article.

Interesting, R&R even names the market manager as the info source. Meanwhile, All Access is sticking by its country / southern rock hybrid story, even going as far as to name the new PD (who definitely has a country background) and a possible staff hire. Who's got the real story here?

Re: WYOK to rock 'n' roll

Playing it conservative... that's no fun! I guess it makes since, Mobile has AAA (Zew), Classic (Rocket), and Active (TK), but no straight up Rock. Pensacola lacks AAA but already get's rock from Cumulus owned 99-Rock, WKSM. It sure would be nice to see another niche format around here, though.

If 104.1 puts enough Lynard Skynard and Jimmy Buffet in their rotation, people around here will listen.

Oh God, if ANY of you get a gig working for a Pizzati RAWK station, please, do youreself a favor and ask him to tell you about HIS days as a RAWK JAWK and how he'd go "the extra mile" for remotes.

This will hearken him back to his mullet and spiked hair days (spiked hair stuck around a LOT longer than the mullet did, but, I digress...). Pizzati would tell you that HE was the hard-working type of RAWK JAWK that when he had a remote broadcast (back in the era I'm sure HE didn't settle for the skimpy remote fees he thinks jocks are 'merely' worth nowadays) he'd grab the station van, pay to wash it himself, (stop snickering...he's serious) show up HALF an hour before the gig, set up, do the remote, stay 15 minutes afterwards so the client got their full due. It's been a few years, but he might've told us he actually made the pizzas and wove the station t-shirts, too... I don't remember, exactly.

Don't worry... the "rolling eyes" sensation your feeling isn't just you.

Just make sure you're getting the FULL talent fee the client's being charged. I know I'd hate it if the client thought that talent fee was going to me when it's not all going towards my check.

WYOK + Cumulus = Walton & Johnson? Just a thought...
