Am interested in the PD gig, and would like your input. Pull no punches, good/bad, pros/cons.

Let me just preface this by saying I do not know anything nor have I heard anything... but if I were a bettin' man, I'd place my money on Nate West. He's been there a long time, knows Jackson and I think he's ready for a PD gig.
 
I thought about Nate, too, and I wouldn't be opposed to him getting that job. Like you said, he knows the metro area (being from Clinton) and has been there off and on since the mid-90s. He would be the best fit for the gig.
