WYRD signal issues

I've been getting a lot of static on 98.9 from southern Greenville towards my home just miles south of Laurens and hard to listen to Greenwood while grocery shopping yesterday. 98.9 has had a big signal with no issues over the past 40 years of on and off listening in Laurens and Greenwood county. Now granted they air a format I like for the first time in 40 years but I have not found the signal issue mentioned anywhere and I know its not just me.

Heard Tara talk about the signal issues this morning. Trying to push the app since there is a lot to repair at the transmitter site so it will be weak for a while. They do need to stop promoting the big signal during commercials and promos and actually tell people more about the app because static In Simpsonville means no signal in newberry.

That must be the reason why the HD2 channel (Magic Upstate) has been cutting in and out. I thought it was because Paris Mountain was getting in between me and the tower, but if the power is lower, that could also be the issue.

I NEVER listen to the main channel, so I wouldn't know about the non-digital signal

Does 98.9, formerly WSPA-FM, share the same tower as WSPA-TV channel 7? Or do they have a separate tower? I know Channel 7 and WYCW Channel 62 share the same signal from Hogback Mountain. Just wondering if there may also be issues with the TV signal, or now unrelated.

There is a separate tower for WSPA-FM. But it is at the same site. TV tower is fairly tall. WSPA-FM, Not very tall.....but sitting on Hog Back, it talks nicely when its on full power.

Yes I thought they may be on separate towers now. I remember about 10 years or so ago the WSPA TV tower fell down during an ice storm and had to be rebuilt.

A few days ago, Driving thru Anderson there was only broadcasting silence on the 101.5 FM translator instead of the old Magic Upstate. I wonder if this is related? No audio, just a stereo carrier / dead air signal

If this was a temporary outage, I wonder if it's been fixed? Haven't checked WYRD-HD2 or WFBC-HD4 or 95.1 Seneca either.

The online stream is off the air as were the HD signals (not sure about those now) with just dead air. I read elsewhere on here that Audacy was shutting down some of their non-primary/online/HD only stations, perhaps Magic was one of them.

Apparently there was a transmitter fire, and they needed corporate approval for a new one...

Charlie James is on the Radio taking calls and wants to see who is their furthest listener 😂 Calls from Maysville GA to Harrisburg NC to Columbia SC.

One said their signal has been having issues for months. I guess for the past few weeks 98.9 was using an Aux site or somewhat reduced power, but I haven't noticed a difference here in the Gaffney area.
