WYSH-FM

I saw on the facebook page for WMYL-FM where Ron M. spoke about WYSH-FM signing on in or around 90 days from now.... Does anyone have any details on this?

106.7 is going to a religious bunch. They don't seem like the type to buy and flip.

From the looks of his Facebook posts, he's hiring. And looking for a night jock for Merle.

I've always wondered why he doesn't go all classic country with Merle FM (instead of that mix of old & new). There are already 2 new country stations with better signals. Seems like a full time classic country format would be a better niche for WMYL. (classic country has gotten big numbers down the road in Chatt. for years). I know those demos are hard to sell, but when you're a rimshot signal, it's best to fill a niche & take what you can get.

I've never understood Merle and WYSH, though I do not live in the area - I listen when I'm in Pigeon Forge, since I typically take a trip to Knoxville while there. They are INDEED co-owned, right? There is SO much overlap on both stations. In other towns - like my own - where there are co-owned country station one is strictly classic country and the other is "hot" new country. Their reasoning?

WYSH is more the local outlet for Anderson County, also the only outlet left serving Anderson County.
Merle is more the music outlet serving the Knox-Anderson market. Don't forget that WYSH is simulcast @ 1400 in Maryville, WGAP. I think the only local stuff on 1400 is sports.
