WYSH gets Pirkle's translator at 101.1

From Taylor at Radio-Info:

Around Knoxville, classic country WYSH (1380) is about to get an FM signal at 101.1. Ron Meredith’s Clinton Broadcasting will use John Pirkle’s W266AM, Oak Ridge to simulcast his WYSH, Clinton, Tennessee. Pirkle recent filed to modify the signal of his 250-watt translator, and it’s just what Meredith wants. His WYSH has 1,000 watts daytime, but just 80 watts at night. The price is $45,000, with Meredith paying $35,000 by closing, and the final 10 grand in a two-year seller note held by Pirkle.

Does this mean that HHH will be effectively thwarted from doing Swap & Shop on 98.7 to serve its COL?

I'm glad to hear this. I don't Know Ronnie Meredith but he seems like the kind of fellow that is not afraid to get in there and work his stations to their full potential. I like WYSH and it's classic country and the mix of all the live local stuff in the mornings as well, Trade Time, Ask Your Neighbor and so on. I have a preset I use often for them in my vehicle. Audio quality is superb for AM in my opinion. This is the type of station that I could come out of retirement for (at least part time). Just a testament that if you'll work and do things right, Small town AM radio can still be a success. It's not easy, but it can work.

That's a great move to get WYSH an FM again, I really think Ron should try to find another freq. for the translator due to the fact the LPFM in Knoxville is on the same one. And for some reason that LPFM located in East Knoxville with only 22w @ 200 feet really gets out. I live in Powell and get a strong signal.

This is great news. I know Ron has wanted to get on the FM band for years now.
