WYSP TO FLIP AT 8 AM

So, they're gonna flip in the middle of Stern? Why not after, or before? Nobody will notice untill after Stern is over anyway.

I don't know how much stock to put in such a rumor...but Stern did say this morning that he has a feeling he's going to be off "in some cities tomorrow." Ponderous indeed!

Well, Christ. It's practically on Stern's Web site

Stolen from howardstern.com (I don't think he'll mind):

HIJACKING HOWARD

Howard announced that he has learned his show will allegedly be dropped in some of its smaller markets tomorrow at 8 a.m. and that these stations will switch to the Jack FM format at that time. Although Howard didn’t have details about what or how many markets would be affected by this move, he did say that losing any of his audience without having the chance to first say goodbye was upsetting to him. Howard went on to note that, instead of the heads of Viacom throwing him a farewell party, they were giving him an f-you party, which he couldn’t understand given the amount of money he has single-handedly made for them over the years. In addition, Howard mentioned that there are rumors the show still might not make it to its scheduled final broadcast on December 16, so fans should sign up on this site’s Vagina Corner in case he has to write a message explaining what’s going on.

Howard told the listeners who might lose the show tomorrow that he has appreciated their loyalty for the past 20 years. Howard mentioned that his sole purpose in getting into radio was to entertain people on their way to work and that if anyone ever chose to sit in his or her car a few extra minutes just to listen to what he had to say, he had done his job. Howard also pointed out that it is the listeners who continue to support him as he prepares to move to SIRIUS that keep him motivated to continuing doing the show, despite all the setbacks he faces on a daily basis.

But is this one of his "smaller markets?" LOL. And I hope we're not getting JACK-FM!

Re: Well, Christ. It's practically on Stern's Web site

For several months in Buffalo, we've had WBUF-92.9 broadcasting Stern from 6 to 10 A.M. weekday mornings, and the "Jack FM" format the rest of the time.

Even if several of Stern's affiliates do get "Jacked" later this morning (October 25th), it's possible they could continue to broadcast Stern's show until it leaves Infinity, but broadcast "Jack" the other twenty hours of each weekday and 24 hours a day on the weekends.

Actually, if Infinity wants to beat GM's established BEN-FM with a JACK-FM on WYSP, leaving Stern in mornings until his final broadcast might be their only shot. Think about it.

I think it would be dumb if Infinity wanted to attempt to take on Ben FM. I have a gut feeling Infinity won't bring Jack into Philadelphia. Free FM, maybe. This is all a very interesting turn of events though, even though there has been speculation for a while.
