WYSP

We now listen to WYSP at work. It's certainly not my choice. One thing I've noticed is that Philadelphia lives in a bubble. They live in a coccoon. People are starving, there is war, and there is crime, but all this has been singer now dj can talk about is TO and the Eagles. And now he plays Creed! This station will be turned by the end of the day. I will not listen to this garbage!!!

Actually, Tommy Conwell is a never was. He never had a National Top 40 hit! He is truly a local phenomenon. And an overrated one at that.

And Grunge Lunch? What are you nuts? You gotta be kidding!!

When did 'YSP become a news station? I thought they were an EAGLES and ROCK station. Sounds like they're doing what they always advertised.

I am not sure the purpose of your rant...Is it the rock music, or is it you want a news station, But Tommy Conwell sure beats listening to Pierre Roberts' tired and old Mr Maggoo Act
I.E. Playing Christmas music on his work force blocks last week
Hey Pierre you have been doing this same old tired act for to long now!!!!!....Come up with some new ideas...PLEASE?

Hmmm, let's see... Pierre has been at WMMR for what, 24 uninterrupted years now? And he should take your advice why?

Pierre falls into the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" category. His fans like the things that he does, so he keeps doing them - it works very well for him. Luckily for you there is still the option to switch to YSP when Pierre does something you don't like. There are no guarnatees that YSP will still be a rock station post-Stern.

Re: WYSP... Welcome To Philadelphia

The term I used was that Philadelphia is "Provencial." Same definition as yours.

What would really get me was that out of the whole world, the only consideration for a summer one or two week vacation was The Jersey Shore and/or The Poconos. Nowhere but Philadelphia.

Yo TunedOut, take a hint from your name if you don't like it and tune out. I for one, enjoy that summer block of Christmas music every year. Different strokes, yanno?

Actually, Tommy's grunge lunch is phoney. He only ever plays the same tired pearl jam, AIC and soundgarden tunes. He never goes deep into any of those artists catalogues. and you never hear any of the other grunge artists. Gimmie a break

Grunge Lunch *sigh*

*sigh* It's nice to hear somebody say that about the grunge lunch. I used to listen to it all the time, hoping for some deeper cuts. It would rock so much if they would use that grunge lunch to get into the lineage of some of these very popular Seattle bands. Maybe play two Pearl Jam songs and then one Mother Love Bone or Green River track, perhaps? It's a slight stretch, but maybe you could play some Presidents of the United States of America, and then put on some Love Battery (they share drummer, at least I think he's the drummer, Jason Finn). Or play some Nirvana, then play producer Jack Endino's band, Skin Yard. Or get into some side projects! Play some of Kris Novoselic's band Sweet 75, or Stone Gossard's side project Brad..there are just so many interesting musical places to go. It pains me to hear the grunge lunch. But radio isn't about interesting musical places. It's about selling advertising time.

I was reading those listener voted top ten lists on WMMR a month or so ago, and a Screaming Trees tune made it into the top ten grunge list. I wish I could have heard it, because it would have been awesome to hear Screaming Trees on WMMR.

Sure, I could just pop my CD's in, but there's something oddly exciting and tremendously fun about hearing a favorite and uncommon band on the radio.

What a bummer attitude. The world sucks and YSP keeps playing rock music. Boy are they out of touch. Seriously, you should look into getting Lithium...the drug, not the Nirvana song.
