I noticed WYSP's HD was off today during the game. Do they do that for every game?
 
Probably because of the IBOC delay. HD fans of the Eagles (or most any other team,) don't like to hear a play after already they've already seen the following play on TV with the sound turned down.
 
Yeah, they need to make sure they're synced up to get the "turn the TV sound down and listen" audience who wants to hear its homer announcers, but won't put up with delayed PBP to do it. Also, they want to be live so that people at the game can listen.

I wish WPHT would do this with Phillies games. Their delay is still on. I was watching the Mets and Phillies on channel 57 last weekend and WPHT was on delay, while WFAN was live (or, exactly as delayed as the TV was). Even WCMC in Wildwood, running the Phillies network, was live. WPHT was behind. I will say that WFAN was on delay when the Mets were in Philly. Maybe they only turn off the IBOC for Mets home games. WPHT is delayed home and away.
 
If you own a DVR or TiVo, just delay the TV feed to syncopate it with the radio delay, problem solved.
 
I think the delay on channel 57 may be caused by Comcast? They have all the analog channels delayed to sync up with the digital cable boxes. All the analog signal are now sent digitally to the digital boxes and then they are changed back to analog for analog TVs. I was out Saturday at a bar during college football and channel 6 SD was actually behind channel 6 HD on Comcast Garden State.
 
I don't know if 57 was delayed or not. The only way to know that would be to be at the game with a TV capable of receiving 57. Since the game was in New York, I have no way of doing that.

All I knew was that 57, WFAN, and WCMC (I was in Cape May at the time and able to receive all three radio stations) were equally "live," and WPHT was considerably delayed compared to all three.

I know that when I was at games at Citizen's Bank Park in 2006, the games were delayed on PHT and live on WFAN. In 2007, they were delayed on both.
 
Great technology. It has to be disabled for a station's most important programming.
