---I worked at Hoffman for many years (albeit it many years ago), but with Paul Scott exiting (which shocked me the most), and having some understanding of the company's past, the only thing I can see happening is a sale of both stations. I don't think they own any other stations, so, unless there's an LMA with someone coming, I would say sale pending and Hoffman is simply getting out of radio.
---The signal issue, rather than dial position, has always been the achilles heel for WZEZ. I never could understand why the FCC allowed a 100.5 to be licensed with Goochland, with 100.3 already in Petersburg and 100.1 in Ashland. Normally, this never happens (the 100.3 along with 100.1 was surprising enough back in the 90s when 100.3 was alloted). But having WDYL (ironically, formerly owned by Hoffman) going to 100.9 really doesn't play into it; 'ZEZ just couldn't get enough signal into metro Richmond to become an effective player in the market.
---As for WGGM-AM (820), certainly with Praise on FM it had to be a rough go for them.
---My heart goes out to the many friends and colleagues I have there at the building in downtown Chester. I'll be praying that all will bounce back and have good things in store for them as 2009 progresses.
