WZLM Goodwater sold

According to Radio and Records, Great Wireless has sold WZLM Goodwater. Here's the link to the R&R story. It's listed under transactions for July 13.

an interesting side note...looks as though Great Wireless has been playing "musical chairs" with the call letters on some of their stations. The former WEZZ calls for Clanton (now WHPH, Jemison) were moved to the Thomaston 97.7 frequency after "Peach" came on the air. The Thomaston station changed calls to WGZZ in late May. On July 5, The WEZZ calls found a new home on 930 in Monroeville (formerly WYNI). The newly chirstened WEZZ has an application to move to...Harahan, LA? ???

That application to move doesn't make any sense - Clear Channel's WYLD is on 940. Confusing! ???

I thought that was odd, too, when I did a search on "Harahan, LA" and found that it's not too far from New Orleans. I re-checked the FCC application; the application is to change frequency to 1190, also.

Ahhh, okay. I conveniently overlooked that. ::) Although it still appears they have some co-channel issues, this time with WBSL in Bay St. Louis.

was WZLM still Hot AC and automated?

I lived in Alex City just as the transitioned away from a live staff back in 1997.
I have to say as a live station they did a good job for such a small market.
after they pulled everything live away I turned on Jazz Flavors 104.1 in my office, the car and most of the time at home also....
sometimes it was tough to pick up in a metal shopping center type blg and I would pop on Mix 103.3

That would explain why a search for 'WYNI' got you nowhere on Radio Locator. For a second, I thought they'd actually deleted 930 AM--as it hasn't broadcast since Great Wireless first took it over and fired it up, likely for licensing reasons.

More Musical Chairs at Great Wireless

According to the FCC website, the WGZZ calls have been moved again, this time being swapped with Dadeville's WKGA at 100.3, as of last week. WEZZ still remains on the 930 Monroeville frequency and WZLM licensed to Goodwater (97.5) remains unchanged. Wonder which one of Great Wireless' other stations will be next to participate in the call letter change frenzy over there? ???
