Re:Doug's reign on commercial radio

We're currently working on 3 November Group tunes, "Savannah Le Mar", "Night Paws" being two titles, resurrecting the tapes for re-release on the CD version of Boston Rock & Roll Anthology 8. This is when theybacked up Tennie Komar of THE SILENCERS fame.
you should reissue some of the stuff on the "Boston Bootleg" album. The Phobia songs on there are cool...

Who didn't love The Fools' "Go Guido Go" song back in the 90's. Come on, that was great!
That was the Stools not the Fools.
Not to be confused with The Bloody Stools, or their classic "choke the load"Thanks Oedipus! "Nocturnal Emissions" is why I'm warped. The bill's on its way!

The Fools generated a LOT of money over the years via independent record sales (after their two EMI discs) and by touring. They probably grossed 250,000.00 annually in the 1990s between selling their discs and playing out weekly. Girls Night Out generated $125,000.00 one year in the 1980s, so many of the suburban gigs ridiculed by "hip jocks" are actually quite lucrative. The Fools had much more success on WBCN than many jocks - because the Fools continue to sell records while those who attack them have not been able to bounce back as quickly. Weekend gigs can't compare with afternoon drive. Friends have asked me offlist to not respond to the culprit, but, really, when hard working musicians get constant ridicule from someone irrelevant to this city, it needs to be corrected.Keep in mind, that individual is hell bent on disrupting threads - if that means insulting "Orleans" or "The Fools" or great artists like Wilbert Harrison, it makes no difference. All these acts continue to sell years after their initial success, which means they continue to entertain. The same cannot be said for the person who constantly ridicules their work. One more thing - Sal Baglio of THE STOMPERS is a very creative force - his solo records are nothing like The Stompers and show a side of the artist that allegedly "hip" allegedly "in-touch" on-air personalities should be aware of before they lash out. Doug Mascott's favorite band is THE STOMPERS - and Doug's been on commercial radio (as well as college) a lot longer than the "expert" Nik 2.0 (Two times zero is more like it...it still equals ZERO)
Great for him but looking at that posted playlist he's miles from knowing what's happening in terms of local music.

Boston Bootleg series / old WERS broadcast

Hi Sonic Al,Yeah, PHOBIA - lots of fun. I enjoyed producing those sessions. Melody, the lead singer, used to date one of the Varulven graphic artists. He stayed on all these years but John V from Pure & Easy (Gary Shane, Wayne Kramer, etc) is doing all the album art restoration. We might combine Boston Bootleg 1 and 2There's the Willie Loco Alexander/Boom Booms "Sperm Bank Babies" album that we put out too -Varage Records (Varulven & Willie's GARAGE) "Now you see it, now you don't". We put out the WERS broadcast because the BOOM BOOMS weren't happy with the MCA homogenization (no cuss words, dry production by Craig Leon) molestation of their art. We put SBB out while the first MCA album was in release. It got the better reviews! All this stuff is being restored - but it takes time - so we've got a 24 month plan to release the stuff one by one. A LOT of work. Don't have time to sit in my basement andblog like I've been accused of by a famous d.j...but I can ASPIRE to someday do just that!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------FROM AL:you should reissue some of the stuff on the "Boston Bootleg" album. The Phobia songs on there are cool...
