WZLX's "Senseless Survey"

Every morning (weekdays) at 7:15 WZLX does a "US Senseless Survey" crank random call, with the intent to be how many bogus questions can be asked before the callee hangs up.
Do they actually get the callee's permission before they air the call, as the FCC requires? Given the bit has probably been thoroughly vetted and okayed by CBS's corporate lawyers, I imagine they've covered themselves, but still...
SBS just got nailed by the FCC for what seems the same type of bit. Could it be they are calling well outside the listening area (e.g., NY, IL or CA) and that exempts notification requirements?

Well I think it is a useless part of the show, and have always wondered how they pulled it off if it was indeed a crank call. They are required to ask permission for the call to be recorded before the button is pressed. The exception is if the caller dials the call to a known radio station number like a contest line.

CBS plays fast and loose with the rules on a regular basis, including slipping including slipping one line commercials into the middle of sportscasts, without the advertiser being clearly identified. I heard one the other day and was doing a WTF driving up 93.

It has to be staged show prep. there is no other way to account for the quantity of calls they are able to generate.

They had to stop doing "Tick Off A Trucker," because I think one of the truckers out there was going to come or actually did come to the station. They did a bit once where they told the audience that they can play an ambulance (maybe it was a police car - but same concept) where K & M told listeners in their cars to wind down their windows and then when they said "turn up your radio," then they broadcast a siren. Then, they took calls to find out what happened. I remember one caller saying all the other cars around him pulled over thinking there was really an emergency vehicle and a laugh was had by all.
