WZME/43 ME-TV

Just noticed within the past couple days that WZME/43 has added the word NEW YORK underneath the ME-TV logo during their programming. Previously they just had the ME-TV logo.

Yeah, that's their new branding. If you watch the TOH ID, they say "Me TV New York", and in small letters at the bottom it says WZME Bridgeport/New York.

In terms of programming, I'm glad to see they added "Emergency!" to the fall schedule. This is a nice break from all the westerns they air all afternoon. Now at least I have 1 show worth watching on this network.

WZME/43 ME-TV, and also WCVB/5.2

,.... The question is when will ME-TV launch on WCVB?

It won't be long now. I just saw 5.2 for the first time moments ago, running bars and tone. This gives me three OTA ME-TV channels: 5.2, 9.2 and 62.1. So for me -- er, myself -- the real question is, when will 62 do something different? There's been speculation that they'll put RTN back on .1, but that network has devolved into the Cheesey Channel IMHO.

I'd love to see Antenna TV on 62.1 or anything else but not RTN. RTN like you said has devolved into the cheesy channel and I dislike cheese! Perhaps a nice bowl of fruit?  :D

The MeTV PSID label is there too. This brings up a few interesting possibilities. One depends on what contract WMFP and MeTV have. If WMFP can keep the MeTV affiliation, and leaves it on 62.1, they retain must-carry with cable (and satellite). Comcast and other cablecos probably can add MeTV on 5.2, but may not, unless WCVB has some sort of retroactive subchannel clause in their retransmission consent agreement - or they choose to humor WCVB, which would add it the next time the agreement comes up for renewal.

If 5.2 does end up on cable, it will probably pick up most of the viewers, since it will likely carry the whole MeTV schedule, unlike WMFP and their long infomercial blocks. RTN, broken up by infomercial blocks might be an option for 62.1. Or maybe they would try for AntennaTV, but might not be allowed by Tribune to mutilate the schedule with infomercials, as does MeTV.

I don't see Metv being on WMFP along with 5.2 doesn't make sense. I'm sure 5 has something in the works to be carried on cable and Satellite. Either RTV will end up on 62.1 or they will find another network, or go infomercial 24/7 until they do. Just my $1.37.

does anyone remember when wmfp took on metv maybe there waiting for the contract to run out, which must be soon if ch 5 already doing a test pattern. And also wmur in NH has metv on a sub channel which is carried by cable, along with me TV in RI so its not out of the realm of possibilities!!

December 15, as discussed in the RTV out, Me-TV in at WMFP thread.

It's been commented elsewhere that the owners of WMFP and WZME are holding onto their stations.

NRJ, and most owners, would say that now. But depending on how the FCC proceeds with auction plans - selling to the cell phone companies might be the $$ offer they can't refuse.

That wouldn't be any time soon, though - there would have to be a serious amount of channel shuffling to repack the TV bands to actually make freed spectrum useable.
