WZNE blows the Stern farewell...

...or so it sounds, as I listen to my recording of the morning's festivities.

Ten minutes of spots and music until they abruptly dump out of a spot about 6:10 and join Howard already in progress - except that the local delay seems to just be kicking in, so Howard sounds sloooo-o-o-o-o-o-w until the delay builds up.

Ugly stuff. Wanna bet Sirius handles the technical aspects of the show better?

(In fairness, the rest of the morning sounds like it was handled OK, technically, and they did a nice job taking listener calls after Howard signed off.)

So what happened? Was someone late getting to work?
______________

It's Radio History

Scott's never mentioned it to me over the years, but even if he's not, I suspect he wanted to hear a bit of radio history.

As did I...I have listened to about 10 minutes of Howard in the entire time he's been on in this market (give or take my absence from it for a few years), but I set up my computer to record Howard on Friday as well.

OA calls it correctly...

That is correct, sir. Love him or hate him, Howard made radio history during his run, and I wouldn't be much of a historian if I didn't have tape (or bits, as the case may be) rolling for his terrestrial finale.

More thoughts on the matter in Monday's NERW, in a few hours.

(And too bad I didn't get to hear the start of it on WZNE...)
______________
