WZNJ in Demopolis Alabama Has Changed

R

Hello Everyone,

I was listening to Oldies Z 106.5 from Demopolis Alabama. As I was waiting to see, if Alive 106.5 was coming on tonight, I heard something radically different.

I do believe that WZNJ 106.5 in Demopolis Alabama has changed its format from Oldies and CCM to R&B and Hip-Hop. I heard some announcer say that this was the New 106.5.

If this station has changed, I wonder if they will get new calls?

P.S. I am going to miss Alive 106.5, on Sunday nights, if they did change their format.

A Confirmation

Here is a confirmation. My friend, that owns WMBV in Dixon's Mills, just informed me that WZNJ is now a R&B station.

Oldies Z 106.5, in Demopolis Alabama, did indeed switch its format.

I wonder if the calls will be changed?

I will surely miss their wonderful mix of Oldies and Contemporary Christian Music.

Yes they are. The man that spoke with me, is their local manager, for WMBV (Dixon's Mills/Linden, WMFT Tuscaloosa, WMNU Lake/Jackson MS and soon to be WRNF here in Selma)

P.S. Z 106.5 is now saying this: We are playing Smooth R&B and Classic Oldies.

No surprise, considering the changes in York at WSLY. In fact, I even wondered (for just a few seconds) if they might even change formats at WINL. To be sure, that would have been radical, and counter-productive.

I have a feeling on this one.

Since Ross Communications owns WZNJ and WINL, it wouldn't suprise me if they were to pull an old switcharoo and put WZNJ on 98.5 and WINL on 106.5.

Anything is possible. Knowing Mr. Ross, he may do this, if R&B proves to be successful on 106.5.

P.S. I believe the change at WZNJ was made to compensate for the change that was recently made at WSLY.
