WZPR Returns to Rock As Z92.3

After stunting since Monday, JAM Media Solutions Conservative Talk 92.3 WZPR Nags Head NC has flipped to Rock as “Z92.3“.

Focusing on Rock from 1975 to 2015, the station lists Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, AC/DC, Metallica, Motley Crew, Def Leppard, Black Sabbath, Journey, Van Halen, Guns N’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, and Green Day among core artists. The station debuted with AC/DC’s “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)” and will feature 10,000 songs commercial free.

Its a format flip from conservative talk to rock according to the release.

The issue is not the format ... WZPR has had plenty of those (country, rock, soft AC, and news/talk are the ones I'm aware of). The issue is that WZPR's signal does not cover the full market (and that it's a market with too many stations). As much as I hate to see stations go to EMF, when EMF purchased 97.1, they should have picked up 92.3 too so that they have full market coverage.

They were also CHR as Power 92.3
