Try this for a comparison...
WMGO in Canton does a legit 28 watts at night and they don't cover near the ground that 970 does. All I'm saying is WJFN 970 is supposed to be 250 watts day / 22 watts night according to the FCC. I have no idea what power level they are actually operating at.
According to FCC records, WQST-AM is still owned by Ace Broadcasting, Inc. WJFN-AM is owned by Jackson Radio, LLC. Both stations were being operated by the same people until recently, but are owned by separate companies. It is likely that they have an LMA of some sort.
There is absolutely no way 970 will be able to compete with WJDX or WSFZ in the Jackson market, unless they come up with a way to upgrade the signal... which would have been done by now if it was possible.
