WZQK Brandon flips to sports

970 already has a local afternoon show with Max Howell (I'd never thought he'd move from Destin to come here) and on Tuesday, Jay White of MPB and formerly of Supersport 930 will start a morning show. And the signal is better than what I ever remember it to be, so they can be competitive in this market with the other sports stations.

Where is the studio located?. When they were simulcasting WQST, I assumed it all originated from Forest.
The towers on highway 471 are gone but the building still stands. There is a red truck in the driveway that hasn't moved in nearly a year. There was also a car in the parking lot the last time I drove by. I assumed they moved all of the equimpment out when they took down the towers. BTW. Why did they move the station anyway? I figured if it ain't broke... Was the land sold? If it was I thought they would have torn down the old studio and put a subdivision there. Whats the real story on 970? Do they ever plan to get it back up to full power? In some areas its actually stronger than it was at 1000 watts. I assume it had something to do with the directional array.

The land was worth way more than the radio station...so there ya go.
When the moved it to another location, they had to change the pattern and power to make it fit.
I'm on the northshore at the reservoir, so I can't get a listenable signal out here from them...even before it moved, 970 didn't cover much of north Jackson, Madison-Ridgeland.

Not an engineer,so I can only offer the poor man's evaluation of a station's signal. I hit the scan button the other day while driving on I-55 near Northside Drive in Jackson the other day and it didn't stop on 970.

I tried listening today and I couldn't understand a word anyone was saying. someone has been monkeying with the audio. It was badly badly distorted. Sounded like every knob was all the way up. Couldn't understand anything so I changed the channel. Good job proving the old excuse why people don't listen to AM anymore because it sounds bad. I wish AM stations would quit doing that. AM 780 is just the opposite. Its volume is so low it barely gets above the static in the fringe areas.

The last 10 stations Andy Hodges was involved with are all dark. Maybe that should tell you something.

Don't you think that has a little more to do with who you sold the stations to? It wasn't Andy Hodges name on the license now was it?

Can anyone tell me the daily lineup for this station? And ... is there a site to listen online? Thanks for any info.

Andy was running them. They all went dark on his watch.
