WZRR on reduced power?

Is there something going on on Red Mountain where WZRR is operating at reduced power, or their 50kw AUX? For the entire past week, I have heard very little of WZRR, even when I can null out the WAY-FM translator up here, it's just static. Right now, I'm even getting some DX from Jackson MS and Tuscaloosa, as well as some of the weaker Birmingham signals, and still nothing on 99.5 up here.

I WORKED AT WZRR A LIFETIME AGO-- 1990-92-- GREAT TIME IN MY BUDDING CAREER--

I WAS REMOTE SETTER UPPER, FILL IN DJ, WEEKEND DJ, AND 9-10 AM BOARD OP ON GREG AND COURTNEY SHOW--

AND NEVER PUT IN A 40 HOUR WEEK-- BUT ALWAYS MANAGED TO GET 40 HOURS-- ON MY CHECK !! :)

TONY, BLAZE AND ORLANDO ARE STILL THERE!!!

Just checked them out on my Icom communications receiver that has a meter. There signal strength is the same or maybe a little stronger than 94.5 (which is the same power level and comes out the same antenna). Maybe there is some interference in your area that is covering them up. How far are you away from their tower?

it's 103 miles exactly from my antenna to the tower. Maybe it's just my antenna or I'm getting digital interference from Nashville's WWTN 99.7 then. 94.5 is loud and clear almost 24/7 up here since it has been in mono. Also there's a WAY-FM translator on 99.5 in Huntsville, so I know that does cut into it, but there is a position I can put my antenna in and it completely nulls out the translator. I finally did pick them up that night, a few hours after the Jackson MS stations had been picking up but it was still fading in and out, while the rest of the Birmingham signals, even 97.3, were solid.

That WAY-FM translator on 99.5 is so annoying. If it wasn't for that, I could listen to The Edge on my FM radio instead of online streaming.

This reminds me of that time when X just moved to 100.5, I try to listen on that freq. but all I could pick up was the country station WLAY 100.3. On certain times of the day I could pick up X faintly, but after 100.3 The River debuted all hope was lost.

W293AH on 106.5 for WTAK is just as annoying. KZ 106 from Chattanooga used to have a listenable signal all the way to Athens, and was especially listenable in the Chase area. But now it's such a struggle to get them even at night, anywhere past Fayetteville.

As for WZRR, I think it is my antenna now, the stupid thing is pointed due north and is picking them up loud and clear now, which this thing seems to do after every time it rains.

Didn't WTAK have an on-channel booster in Huntsville at one point? I seem to recall seeing "WTAK-1" in the FCC directory. Guess it didn't work good enough for them.

on Channel boosters can be a big pain if not impeccably maintained and cause more problems then they solve...
