Pepper-Tanner Now Sound jingle package, if memory serves.

For those who don't speak Spanish, "Dulce Dieciseis" means "Sweet 16," just like that billboard on top of
the big National Record Mart downtown said for many years.

WZUM was purchased last week. Guess it hasn't been announced yet. Film at 11. The fun is coming.

This is a station that refuses to die!

C.

Maybe the new owners will be starting an all-vampire undead format.

Is Beto's gone?!?!?! I thought that was a permanent institution, like Route 88 being under construction in Castle Shannon.

Beto's is still very much in business on Banksville Road, serving cold toppings on slices of already-cooked pizza. Mad Mike's WZUM studio was in Pietro's Pizza Pub, which has changed hands, changed names, and removed the radio set-up.

You are about to get the old Beto's vs. Fiore's argument brewing here again in the South Hills.
Frankly I have never cared for Betos. It's the only pizza I've seen that you have to eat with a spoon.

Pietros was a strong runner-up in it's day though.

Just sayin' the studio was in Pietro's, not Beto's. Mad Mike's son-in-law owned the place and the studio did not belong to WZUM. Mike's show on WZUM in those days was brokered, and the Shanleys (Mike's daughter and son-in-law) had a pretty good run with car cruises accompanied by Mike's remotes from Banksville Road.

Beto's was my ex-wife's favorite pizza place. Many is the time she'd want us to stop their at night on our way from one place to another. I never cared much for the pizza, but there were times when eating crappy pizza was preferrable to getting into a fight with the wife. Fortunately, she did like WDVE and WYDD, so I didn't have to endure what my wife's best friend's husband had to endure. My wife's best friend like disco music, and insisted it be played on the car radio. Amazingly enough, I divorced the Beto's Pizza preferring wife, while he remains married to the disco queen.

LOL! There's a bit of wisdom that will stay with me a long time!
Sometimes I think I'd rather eat an actual crap pizza than get into a fight with mine.
(she's from Detroit, and she fights pretty good...)
