X Link

I have a client who wants to get rid of the POTS line that is connected to his tower light monitor due to costs.($53.00 monthly) He wants to install an X Link that is supposed to use a bluetooth on a cell phone to dial in and out of his tower light monitor. (Sensaphone 1104)
He is looking for a cell plan that is minimum costs monthy. Does anyone have suggestions as to a low cost cell service and does anyone have experience with the X-Link?

How often does it dial out? Only for problems? If so, any plan will do. I'm doing something similar as a backup to POTS for a Remote Control and I just use a Prepaid Plan phone with a carrier I know to be located at my tower site...

I would first call the Telco (check their web site too) and make sure this is the cheapest business line they offer. You want a "measured rate" line with no "CLASS" features such as call waiting, or any other "features".

This may be the cheapest it gets, but it would pay to be sure before you spend the time and $ to rig up something new.

For prepaid you can get T-Mobile prepaid simcard with 1000 minutes and 1 year of service before minutes expire for about 118 with tax on their website.. T-Mobile's rural coverage can be spotty, but has improved in recent years.
