-x-marks the Spot !

ok, so about ten years ( give or take)
the spot @ 101.7/wxox was sold to
pay-4-pray... pure speculation, what would
that station, be today ( if any thing) if...

a little money, the right direction, and
its limitations, and locations, (batavia)
isnt exactly, buffalo or rochester, but...
it had a niche(?sp) - - soo,

what impact would the spot have made...
(there is a bad pun) in there some where,
and it is un-intentional !

If "ifs and buts" were candy and nuts, it'd be Christmas every day.

Who knows what might have been. The Spot seemed to have potential as an Alterative, but then again, so did The Planet. Look what happened there, eh? And what about The Lake? Anybody remember The Bear? 101.7 isn't what you'd call a choice frequency. It's short-spaced, although there's some thought the stick could be moved a few miles to improve coverage to the west (read, "Buffalo.") But consider what might have happened if The Spot had reached the lofty heights of, say a 4 share, 12+. It would have been only a matter of time before another full power competitor would have co-opted the format and spanked the Spot. Radio stations in Buffalo play a "zero sum" game. The population base is shrinking and getting older so it's a challenge to cultivate new listeners. The successful stations surivive by stealing listeners from their competitors. It's said that if you can make it as a GM, SM, OM, PD or air talent in Buffalo, you can make it anywhere.
